Warm Pear Puree With Skin | Baby Constipation Recipe

by

Suitable Age

7 – 9 Months

Intended Purpose

Baby Constipation

Preparation Time

10 Minutes

Pears are a great natural baby constipation remedy. They can work particularly well if you leave the skin on.

When feeding pear puree, please keep in mind that pears contain lots of sugar! So please stick to the feeding recommendation at the bottom of this page – if possible!

Ingredients

1 Medium-Sized Pear (about 8oz or 225 grams):
Do not use overripe pears! Green pears are to be preferred!

1/4 Cup (60ml) Water

Pinch of Cinnamon

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Chop the pear (leave the skin on)!

Step 2

Add the chopped pear to a blender and add the water!!

Step 3

Once blended, add to a pot and warm the puree up. Do not bring to boil! Just warm it up a bit, so that it is warm when you serve it!

Step 4

Before you serve the puree, add a pinch of cinnamon!

Pears are a cool food, so they can cool down the body (even when served warm). By adding a pinch of cinnamon, which is a warm herb, we neutralize the coldness from the pear.

You can read more about the effect of food on a baby’s body temperature in my blogpost “Best First Baby Foods To Avoid Digestive Issues (4-24 Months)“.

Feeding Recommendation

  • 1.5 – 2 tbls on empty stomach in the late morning
  • 1.5 – 2 tbls on empty stomach in the afternoon
